With a rich trove of ancient scores left behind\, it preserves melodies from the Tang and Song dynasties\, inheriting a complete performance system therefrom. This\, coupled with local inheritance over a long history in the Chaozhou-Shantou (aka Chaoshan) region\, have helped the genre develop its unique performing style\, besides being regarded as a living fossil crucial for the study of Chinese ancient music. In this concert\, guest virtuoso Wang Peiyu – a Chaoshan traditional musician\, a renowned performer of Xianshi music\, a Bearer of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Chaozhou Music in Shantou\, Guangdong and a National First Class Composer – will be the Artistic Director.
