Gruber\u00a0 <\/strong>Arr.<strong> Kuan Nai Chung<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThe original lyrics were written in German and the melody was done by Franz Gruber, the principal of an Austrian elementary school.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc9b39;\"><strong>&#8220;At Sunrise&#8221;\u00a0 Suona and orchestra<br \/>\n<\/strong>Comp.<strong> Tian Ding\u00a0 <\/strong>Arr. <strong>Lou mai shuo <\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The zither can always produce nice music yet good times cannot be retained.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet each musical note from it represents true feelings.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Adagio is reminiscence of the past, tinged with Master Zhuangzi\u2019s bewilderment lost in the dream of possibly being a butterfly, as well as Emperor Wang&#8217;s desire of an amorous spring heart. Love precipitated in time, melodies flowing in the heart, music becomes an obsession, lingering, fluttering. Do I feel dismayed? Not really.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Finding light in the darkness of depression, one comes to know that behind the obsession stands persistence, in pursuing the original dream.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That dream is presented in the allegro\u2019s bright, vivid rhythms, interconnected phrases, which give off a touch of youth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They all say that the past cannot be changed, and youth cannot be retained. But with music and rhymes around and singing uttered, are we not reliving the free, passionate days of youth?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Life keeps moving forward, with untold fetters. May we understand each other in the melody and keep our love and friendship always fresh in the rhyme.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc9b39;\"><strong>Joy to the world<br \/>\n<\/strong>Comp.<strong> H\u00e4ndel\u00a0 <\/strong>Arr. <strong>Kuan Nai Chung<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nAs one of the most famous Christmas carols, the work conveys the idea that joy and love replace sin and sorrow.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc9b39;\"><strong>&#8220;Ode to the Sun&#8221; \u00a0 <\/strong>Comp. <strong>Wang Dan Hong<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"color: #edebb9;\">The 3rd movement: Longing<\/span><br \/>\nDeveloped from the Bayu (Chongqing) region folk elements. The pieces have a strong Bayu flavour and cultural traits, profound emotional connotation and imposing power, showing the broader life spirit and tenacious vitality of the working people.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc9b39;\"><strong>&#8220;Santa Claus is coming to town&#8221;<br \/>\nComp. <\/strong>Haven Gillespie\u00a0 <strong>Arr. <\/strong>Kuan Nai Chung<\/span><br \/>\nis a well-known traditional Christmas tune, joyful, melodious and giving off strong Christmas vibes.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc9b39;\"><strong>&#8220;Ave Maria&#8221;<br \/>\n<\/strong>Comp. <strong>G.Caccini\u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Arr. <strong>Chan Sze Ngon<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nSelected and adapted from a collection of Catholic hymns.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc9b39;\"><strong>&#8220;Guo Feng&#8221;\u00a0 <\/strong>Comp. <strong>Chiu Chi Ping<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nThis piece is based on the ancient music &#8220;Three stanzas of plum-blossoms&#8221;, which symbolizes the fusion of old and new in Chinese music.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #cc9b39;\"><strong>The Song of the Seven Sons<br \/>\n<\/strong>Comp. <strong>Li Haiying\u00a0 <\/strong>Arr. <strong>Hao Weiya<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nSong of the Seven Sons &#8211; Macao \u2013 the first piece of a series of seven patriotic poems written by Chinese poet and scholar Wen Yiduo in 1925 \u2013 depicts the struggle of the Chinese nation against destiny. This adaptation gives it a new charm and emotionality.
